About the Firm

We are representing a growing private equity firm focused on investing in and scaling lower middle-market companies across various sectors. The firm works closely with portfolio company management teams to drive operational improvements and strategic growth. As they continue to expand our portfolio, they are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and collaborative FP&A and Valuations professional to join our team in a newly created role.

 

Role Overview

The FP&A and Valuations Senior Associate will play a critical role in supporting financial oversight across the firm’s portfolio companies and assisting with fund-level valuation and reporting processes. This role will serve as a key link between the private equity firm’s senior leadership and the portfolio company finance teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, actionable analysis, and consistent valuation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Company Support & Oversight

  • Partner closely with CFOs and finance teams at portfolio companies to monitor financial performance, KPIs, and budget-to-actual variances
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial dashboards and board reporting packages
  • Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes at portfolio companies
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and M&A activity

 

Valuations & Fund-Level Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly portfolio company valuations using market comps, precedent transactions, and DCF methodologies
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual investor reports and fund financials
  • Support third-party valuation audits and ensure adherence to fair value accounting standards (ASC 820)

 

Internal & Strategic Initiatives

  • Develop and refine internal financial models and reporting templates
  • Work with investment team on transaction diligence and integration planning as needed
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives across the firm, including performance improvement efforts, cost optimization, and value creation planning

 

Qualifications

  • 4–8 years of relevant experience in FP&A, Accounting, private equity, valuation advisory, or corporate finance
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is a must
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with significant exposure to senior leadership
