Job Purpose:

Under the general guidance of the Security Manager, The Security Supervisor assists the Security Manager in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for all guests and team members. This role oversees daily security operations, leads and supports the team, and promotes a culture of safety, service, and teamwork consistent with the company’s hospitality standards.

Duties & Functions:

  • Ensure all security staff comply with company policies, department procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Train, coach, and mentor the Security team to ensure proper job performance.
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff needs, assisting other departments as required.
  • Oversee the Key Control program, including issuing and deactivating employee access cards and guest room fobs.
  • Prepare and manage security staff schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with management and department staff regarding incidents, guest needs, and concerns.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure efficient security support.
  • Patrol property perimeters and interior areas, reporting potential safety issues.
  • Review daily shift reports to confirm patrols, radio checks, and key audits are completed.
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and addressing policy violations.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide assistance to team members and guests.
  • Monitor alarm systems and CCTV.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and inventories.
  • Administer first aid and CPR when required.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Assist with fire prevention, lock interrogations, traffic control, accident investigations, and other safety initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service.  We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional service

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Attend mandatory meetings, staff meetings, etc.
  • Utilize traditional software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) ADP any departmental specific systems used.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Ensure confidential documents are kept in a secured area.
  • When disposing confidential documents that contain any personally identifiable information, they must be shredded or pulverized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed standards.
  • Ensure compliance with SLS’s policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES

Assimilate into SLS’s culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all SLS elements. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by SLS from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Requires ability to lift large and heavy packages and boxes and to the ability to load and unload small and large boxes as needed. Must have ability to safely lift minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance and to push and pull up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment.

 GROOMING/UNIFORMS

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.

Qualifications

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to two years of customer-facing experience, preferably in a hospitality or upscale hotel environment.
  • Prior security or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, legal guidelines, and reporting standards.
  • Strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain discreet and maintain confidentiality.
  • Positive, professional, and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods, respond quickly to incidents, and perform duties that include bending, climbing, carrying, pushing, and pulling (up to 150 lbs. with equipment).
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages preferred.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
